WALTHAMBURY Women's Institute

Welcome to the Walthambury WI website.

.
We are a forward thinking WI prepared to explore any new ventures suggested, are happy and willing to get involved in local community affairs and take the advantages offered through the Federation Of Essex Women's Institutes.

Walthambury WI takes an active role in the local community by helping to raise funds for local charities and also participates in various competitions held at the Essex WI shows.

We are of differing ages; some are retired and some work either full time or part time and have young families, grandchildren or elderly relatives to care for.  Just like most women these days we have limited time for ourselves but we all try to meet just once a month to be stimulated, meet friends and enjoy ourselves.

The following is taken from the publication Our Vision produced by NFWI:-

"The National Federation of Women’s Institutes (NFWI) is the largest national voluntary organization for women in England and Wales with approximately 230,000 members in around 7,300 WIs. NFWI is an educational, social, non-party political and non-sectarian organization. Through its close community ties and wide-ranging activities, the WI plays a unique role in enabling women to turn their interests into achievements and their concerns into campaigns."

The Great Waltham Christmas Tree Festival December 2008

Our WI accepted the invitation to decorate one of the fourteen trees set-up inside the Parish Church  on Saturday and Sunday.  Each tree was decorated by one of the village organisations and on the Saturday we were judged to be the best.  Our winning tree and details of the decorations made by our members are shown below.  For pictures of the other trees and of the show on the Sunday evening click here.
