Bells

St Mary & St Lawrence, Great Waltham, has the heaviest ring of eight bells in Essex. The tenor weighs over 22 cwt.  Practice night is Thursdays at 8 p.m. but you should ring first to check.  The Tower Correspondent is Pat Pepper (01245 360613).

St John the Evangelist, Ford End, has the lightest ring of six bells in Essex, with the tenor weighing 4.5 cwt.  The Ford End bells were silent for over 20 years until 2002 when Alan Adcock as Churchwarden brought them back into use.  An enthusiastic band now rings for the Family Services.  The Tower Correspondent is Paul Braisby (01245 361927).

(Thanks to the Essex Association of Change Ringers for the detail here.)
