The Parish of Great
Waltham is one of the largest in Essex in area, covering
approximately 2,488 hectares (6,147 acres), but with only 2,100
residents is not densely populated. It consists of two villages -
Great Waltham (also known as Church End), and Ford End, and four
hamlets – Howe Street, Littley Green, North End and Broads Green.
The parish is approximately 5km north to south, 3km west to east and
at its most southerly is 7km from Chelmsford. |
| The major activity
is agriculture although it employs very few people these days. The
majority of local workers commute to towns up to 40 miles away and
to London. The M11, the A12, the A130, the A131, the A120, Stansted
Airport and Chelmsford station are not far away. |

Great Waltham Parish Council25th
January 2010 Dear Organisation Member, PARISH OPEN DAY You may recall that for the past two years the Parish Council facilitated a Parish Open Day and many organisations attended with a stall/exhibition to show their work over the year and/or to encourage members of the community to become involved in social interaction by joining a club or supporting an organisation. The event was acclaimed as a great success and several expressions of interest were received requesting that a similar event be held this year. The Parish Council has booked Great Waltham Village Hall on Saturday 20th March 2010. The proposed programme will be that the hall will open at 12 Noon for organisations to set up their exhibitions/stalls. The event will open to the public at 1pm and close at 4pm. This is an opportunity for all organisations to show what they have to offer to parishioners and to encourage interaction between all of the organisations in the Parish. This email and attachment is being circulated widely to members of all Parish Organisations and if you are not Chairman or Secretary or a committee representative of the organisation then please bring it to the attention of your committee. If you belong to more than one organisation please ensure that they are all informed of the invitation. To arrange a space please contact Mike or Joanna Steel 01245 360918 or by email to Joanna.Steel@btinternet.com It would be greatly appreciated if you could respond to the invitation to have a display at the event by 15th February 2010 so that the Parish Council can have some indication of the tables and space required. The Parish Council is also arranging for publicity and a leaflet drop to every house in the Parish advertising the event so there should be a good attendance. Yours sincerely, Ian (Peter) Bradley Clerk to Great Waltham Parish Council 17, Cherry Garden Road, Great Waltham, Essex CM3 1DH Telephone 01245 360293 email ianpeter.bradley@btinternet.com or gtwalthampc@btinternet.com PS It would also be beneficial if I had an email address by which I could contact you in the future. If this is possible please let me know by emailing to the email address above. |
